本日は、プランターの野菜の不調について綴ります。

Today, I will report about bad story of vegetable in the containers.

内容/Content

1.虫：赤シソ/Pest:Red perilla 

2.土寄せ：長ネギ/Earthing up: Scallion

3.病気?：つるありインゲン/Diseases?:Vine Type Green Beans

1.虫：赤シソ/Pest:Red perilla  

赤シソにメイガが、大量に発生し、葉っぱがボロボロです。

去年も、同じ時期に被害に遭いました...

Pests began breeding on the leaves of red perilla. 

I was also suffering from these pest in last year...

2.土寄せ：長ネギ/Earthing up: Scallion

前回の土寄せから、約１か月、長ネギの土寄せしました。

大きくなっているはずと思いきや、まったく太くりません...

I earthed up scallion in the container again one month after last earthing up.

Contrary to my expectation, these scallion have not became bigger.

3.病気?：つるありインゲン/Diseases?:Vine Type Green Beans

つるありインゲンの葉っぱは、写真のような状況です。

病気？かどうか、いまいち不明ですが、生長はいまいちです...

The leaves of vine type green beans looks like the following picture.

It seems that the growth is not good...

プランターの赤シソの収穫/Harvest of Red perilla in the container

2022年7月17日、本日の最高気温は29.8℃、最低気温は22.1℃です。

Maximum temperature is 29.8℃ and minimum temperature is 22.1℃ on July 17th, 2022.

内容/Content

1.収穫：赤シソ/Harvest:Red perilla 

2.発芽：トウモロコシ/Sprout:Corn

約１か月ぶりに赤シソを収穫しました。

葉っぱの色は、緑の部分が結構ありました。

I harvested red perilla for the first time in one month.

A part of leaves is little bit green. 

2.発芽：トウモロコシ/Sprout:Corn

先週、タネを蒔いたトウモロコシが発芽しました。

春に蒔いたときに、気温が高いせいか、発芽は早いです。

Corn which were seeded last week sprouted. 

Sprouting in July is earlier than sprouting in spring because of the high temperature.

プランターのナスの収穫/Harvest of Eggplant in the container

2022年7月10日、本日の最高気温は31.8℃、最低気温は24.3℃です。

Maximum temperature is 31.8℃ and minimum temperature is 24.3℃ on July 10th, 2022.

内容/Content

1.収穫：ナス/Harvest:Eggplant 

2.種まき：トウモロコシ/Seeding:Corn

3.剪定：ナスタチウム/Pruning:Nasturtium

1.収穫：ナス/Harvest:Eggplant 

4月に植え付けを行ってから、約70日、ようやくナスを収穫ができました。

このあと、花は咲いていないので、これが最後となりそうです。

I finally harvest the eggplant about 70 days after planting in April.

While these flowers are not blooming, so it is likely to be the last fruit.

2.種まき：トウモロコシ/Seeding:Corn

赤シソが発芽しないので、トウモロコシの種を蒔きました。

赤シソの種は、去年購入した種だったため、発芽しなかったようです。

I seeded corn in same place as the red perilla does not sprout. 

Probably these red perilla seeds got old because they were purchased last year.

3.剪定：ナスタチウム/Pruning:Nasturtium

暑くなって、ナスタチウムが枯れてきたので、剪定しました。

また、秋に花が咲くそうです。

As it gets hot, the nasturtium died, so I pruned it. 

It going to makes nasturtium recover in autumn.

本日は、プランターの野菜の不調について綴ります。

Today, I will report about bad story of vegetable in the containers.

内容/Content

1.赤くならない赤シソ/Red perilla not getting red

2.生長不良のナス/Eggplant not good condition

3.結実しないトウモロコシ/Corn not bearing fruit

1.赤くならない赤シソ/Red perilla not getting red

赤シソですが、部分的に赤くならない葉がでてきました。

6月は、赤色の葉のみでしたが、このところマダラです。

A part of leaves of the red perilla in the container have not turned red.

Although these leaves were red in June, it is not red in July.

I don't know why they don't turn red...

2.生長不良のナス/Eggplant not good condition

4月に定植したナスが、生長不良です。

右のプランターの青丸のナスは、ヒョロヒョロです。

左のプランターの赤丸のナスは、実を１つ付けた後、そのあとが続かず、夏前の収穫は、これで終わってしまいそうです。

昨年もナスを育てているので、連作障害でしょうか？！

The eggplants planted in April have poor growth.

One eggplant in the blue circle of the right container is very thin.

Another eggplant in the red circle on the left container bears just one fruit  and then does not bear next fruit, so it will finish with harvest before midsummer.

I guess it cause that eggplants were planted in the same container last year.

3.結実しないトウモロコシ/Corn not bearing fruit

トウモロコシは、発育不良で、株も小さいままです。

雌花と雄花の時期が合わず、受粉もうまくいっていないようです。

Corn is stunted.

Moreover it seems that pollination is not going well because the timing of flowering between female and male flowers do not match.

2022年ジャガイモ栽培まとめ【その３】/Summary of Potato Cultivation in Container

2022年のジャガイモ栽培のまとめです。

This is a summary of potato cultivation in 2022.

2月23日：植え付け/Planting on 23rd on February

地植えスペースは、1/2サイズの種イモ４個のうち、２つは切り口を上に、２つは切り口を下にして植え付けました。

I planted two 1/2-size seed potato with the cut surface facing down and two with the cut surface facing up in ground planting space.

3月20日：発芽（植え付け26日目）/Sprout on 20th March (26 days after planting)

切り口を下にした種イモが、一番に発芽しました。

Potato with the cut surface facing down sprouted at the earliest.

４月2日：芽かき（植え付け39日目）/Thinning on 2nd April (39 days after planting)

芽かきをして、種イモ１個につき、芽は2本残しました。

切り口を上にした種イモは、芽の数が少ないと予想しましたが、極端に少なくなることはないようです。

I thinned out the sprouts of potatoes and left two sprouts per potato which was good for health.

Although I guessed the number of the sprout of potato with the cut surface facing up is fewer than  the cut surface facing down, this was almost the same as that.

４月9日：1回目土寄せ（植え付け46日目）/Earthing up on 9th April (46 days after planting)

１回目の土寄せをしました。

高い株で、草丈が20cm程度です。

植え付け前に取り出した土の追加になります。

I earthed up potatoes. 

The highest plant  is about 20 cm in height at the time.

I added the soil which was removed before planting.

４月23日：2回目土寄せ（植え付け60日目）/Earthing up on 23rd April (60 days after planting)

2回目の土寄せをしました。

４月29日：花（植え付け66日目）/Flowering on 29th April (66 days after planting)

花がつけました。

White flower of potato come into bloom.

５月15日：様子（植え付け82日目）/Condition on 15th May (82 days after planting)

葉っぱが、青々と繁っています。

所々、虫食いが発生しています。

The plants are in full leaf. 

On the other hand, there are some an insect-eaten leaves.

6月4日：収穫（植え付け102日目）/Harvest on 4th June (102 days after planting)

植え付けから、102日後、ジャガイモを収穫しました。

葉っぱは、やや黄色がかったところでしたが、翌週も雨予報だったため、収穫しました。

Potatoes the container were harvested 102 days after planting.

These leaves were not enough to get yellowish yet, but I harvested them because the weather forecast said it rain next week.

1/2サイズの種イモ4個で、まずますの収穫量です。 

大きさは、どちらかと言うと小ぶりでした。

The number of 1/2-size seed potato were four, but it was also enough amount to harvest. 

The size was little bit small.

今年のジャガイモは、以上です。

2022年のプランターでのジャガイモ栽培のまとめです

This is a summary of potato cultivation in container in 2022.

2月23日：植え付け/Planting on 23rd on February

プランター01には、1/2サイズの種イモ１個を切り口を下にして植え付けました。

I planted one 1/2-size seed potato with the cut surface facing down in the container 01.
