ダイコンの収穫/Harvest of Daikon

2023年1月21日、本日の最高気温は9.0℃、最低気温は3.2℃です。

Maximum temperature is 9.0℃ and minimum temperature is 3.2℃ on January 21st, 2023.

種まきから約110日、ダイコンを収穫しました。

ほとんど直射日光が当たらない場所なので、やや小ぶりのダイコンができました。

こればかりは、どうしょうもない状況です。

I harvested Daikon about 110days after seeding.

Since it's a place where direct sunlight hardly reaches, these were slightly smaller.

It is just an no avoidable situation.

葉は青々/Deep green leaves

この時点では結構大きなダイコンを期待/My expectation to Daikon was high just before the harvest

７〜８cm程度のダイコンを収穫/7-8 cm in length Daikon

ドングリの水耕栽培のまとめ/Summary of growth the acorn by water culture

ドングリの水耕栽培に挑戦した記録です。 

It is report to try to grow the acorn by water culture.

2022年10月16日/ On November 16th, 2022

近所の公園で、ドングリを拾いました。

I picked the acorns in park close to my house.

拾ったドングリ（銀杏を含む）/Gathered acorn including ginkgo

一晩水に浸けて、浮いてきた実は、取り除きました。

虫喰いドングリは、浮いてくるそうです。

I got rid of some floating nuts which were soaked in water overnight.

2022年11月12日/ On November 12th, 2022

一晩水に浸けたドングリから根が出ていたので、空き瓶を使って、ドングリの水耕栽培を始めました。

As the acorns that had been soaked in water overnight had roots, I started hydroponic of acorns in an empty bottle.

蓋の部分は、簡易的に、防水紙を円形に切って、中央に穴をあげて、ホッチキスで止めて、ドングリが落ちないようにしました。

I cut the waterproof paper into a circle, made a hole in the center, and fixed it with a stapler to keep the acorns from falling out in order to make the lid.

11月19日（水耕栽培開始８日目）/ On November 19th, 2022(8days after the start)

根が4cm程度になりました。

The roots became about 4 cm in length.

11月27日（水耕栽培開始16日目）/ On November 17th, 2022(16days after the start)

根が10cm程度になりました。

The roots became about 10 cm in length.

12月4日（水耕栽培開始23日目）/ On December 4th, 2022(23days after the start)

芽がでました。

ドングリの殻が割れて、実が二つに割れています。

It sprouted. The shell is broken and the fruit split in two.

12月17日（水耕栽培開始36日目）/ On December 17th, 2022(36days after the start)

ドングリに葉がつきました。

実が割れていますが、順調に育っています。

Leaves of acorns which have been grown hydroponically are budding.

Although the fruit has split, it is growing steadily.

12月29日（水耕栽培開始48日目）/ On December 29th, 2022(48days after the start)

葉の色が濃くなって、いい感じになりました。

目の前で、生長するドングリをみて、生命の力強さを感じました。

The leaves color has gotten deep green and it looks nice.

I felt the strong vital energies when I saw the growing acorn in front of my eyes.

ブロッコリーの蕾/Broccoli bud

2022年12月17日、本日の最高気温は10.1℃、最低気温は5.6℃です。

Maximum temperature is 10.1℃ and minimum temperature is 5.6℃ on December 17th, 2022.

植付けから、約80日、プランターのブロッコリーに蕾がつきました。

この蕾は、頂花蕾（ちょうからい）というブロッコリーの食べる部分です。

収穫が楽しみです。

Broccoli in the container begin to bud about 80 days after planting. 

The bud is the edible part. 

I am looking forward to harvesting it.

 水耕栽培しているドングリに葉がつきました。

実が割れていますが、順調に育っています。

Although the fruit has split, it is growing steadily.

こちらの葉は、奇形？です。

サニーレタスの「とう立ち」/Bolting of Red Leaf Lettuce

2022年12月11日、本日の最高気温は15.2℃、最低気温は6.4℃です。

Maximum temperature is 15.2℃ and minimum temperature is 6.4℃ on December 11th, 2022.

内容/Content

1.とう立ち：サニーレタス/Bolting: Red Leaf Lettuce

2.様子：ダイコン/Condition:Daikon

1.とう立ち：ダイコン/Bolting:Red Leaf Lettuce

プランターのサニーレタスが、「とう立ち」しました。

「とう立ち」は、花芽がついた茎が伸びてくることで、「とう立ち」すると花芽に養分がいくため、葉が硬くなるそうです。

とくに、意味はありませんが、我が家のサニーレタスは「とう立ち」のまま放置しています。

Red leaf lettuce in the container has started bolting.

"Bolting"  means that the flower buds start growing.

The leaves become harder and harder on the bolting because the the flower buds get the nourishes instead of the leaves.

もう一つのプランター/Another container

こちらのサニーレタスは、やや「とう立ち」気味。

The lettuce looks like a little bit bolting.

2.様子：ダイコン/Condition: Daikon

種まきから約２ヶ月、ダイコンがゆっくりと大きくなってきました。

Daikon have become bigger slowly 2 months after seeding.

ドングリの水耕栽培：芽がでました/Grow the acorn by water culture: Sprouting

10月29日にスタートしたドングリの水耕栽培、約１ヶ月後の11月27日の様子です。

根が瓶の底にまで伸びてきました。

It's the acorn's condition on 27th November which the hydroponic started on 29th October.

The root have grown to the bottom of the bottle and has many tiny roots around the main root.

もうすぐ、芽がでそうです。

It looks like it will sprout soon.

12月4日の様子です。

ついに、芽がでました。

It sprouted on 4th December!!

こちらは、11月12日スタートのドングリ。11月27日時点で、たいぶ根が長くなりました。
This is the acorn that the hydroponic started on 12th November. 
The root has grown quite long on 27th November.

12月4日の様子です。

こちらも芽がでました。こちらは、ドングリの殻が割れて、実も二つに割れています。

It sprouted on 4th December as same!! 

The shell is broken and the fruit split in two.

2022年プランターでの長ネギ栽培まとめ/Summary of Scallion Cultivation in Container

2022年のプランターでの長ネギ栽培のまとめです。

This is a summary of scallion cultivation in container in 2022.

３月31日：種まき/Seeding on 31st on March.

プランターの半分（赤丸の部分）に長ネギの種を蒔きました。

I seeded the scallion in the container(red circle on the following photo).

4月16日：発芽（種まき17日目）/Sprout on 16th April (17 days after seeding)

種まき後、約17日で、ポツポツと発芽しました。

Scallion sprouted 17 days after seeding.

5月15日：土寄せ1回目（種まき46日目）/1st Earthing up on 15th May (46 days after seeding)

大きくなってきたので土寄せしました（プランターなので、土の追加）。

土は、分岐しているところまで追加ました。

I earthed up scallion in the container as it got bigger.

I added soil up to the point where scallion stalk were diverged.

6月19日：土寄せ2回目（種まき81日目）/2nd Earthing up on 19th June (81 days after seeding)

2回目の土寄せを行いました。

写真の見た目は、小さくなったように見えますが、少し大きくなっています

I earthed up scallion in the container again.

Although It looks like smaller in the picture, it has gotten little bigger.

7月23日：土寄せ3回目（種まき115日目）/3td Earthing up on 23rd July (115 days after seeding)

3回目の土寄せを行いました。

大きくなっているはずと思いきや、まったく太くなりません...

I earthed up scallion in the container again.

Contrary to my expectation, these scallion have not became bigger. 

8月27日：土寄せ4回目（種まき150日目）/4th Earthing up on 27th August (150 days after seeding)

4回目の土寄せを行いました。

この時点で、徐々に枯れていき、残り２株となりました。

The scallion gradually withered and two plants remained. 

I earthed up the scallion in the container again.

10月9日：様子（種まき193日目）/Condition on 9th October (193 days after seeding)

この時期から、ネギがだんだん太くなってきました。

The scallion started becoming thicker and thicker at this time.

11月16日：収穫（種まき231日目）/Harvest on 16th November (231 days after seeding)

3月末の種まきから、約７か月、長ネギを収穫しました。

途中、枯れてしまい、最終的に２株となりましたが、なんとか収穫まで辿り着きました。

見た目は、長ネギというより葉ネギです。

I harvested scallion about 7 months after seeding at the end of March.

Some plant withered on the way and two plants finally had survived.

But, It looks more like a green onion than scallion.
